about
'O sacrum convivium' is the beginning of a poem attributed to Thomas Aquinas, which became a psalm recited during the liturgy on the feast of Corpus Christi, in the Catholic Church. Many composers have written music for this text, from Gregorian and Ambrosian chant up to now, including William Byrd, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Franz Liszt or Olivier Messiaen.
'Sacrum' is a piano piece based on my own 'O Sacrum Convivium' written for 4-part choir. It contains the composed material for the original vocal composition, adapted to the possibilities of the piano and complemented by new elements and moments of improvisation that integrate in the piece as inserts among the originally composed parts in a fluid dialogue.

—Text in Latin—
O sacrum convivium!
in quo Christus sumitur:
recolitur memoria passionis eius:
mens impletur gratia:
et futurae gloriae nobis pignus datur.
Alleluia.
—Translation into English—
O sacred banquet!
in which Christ is received,
the memory of his Passion is renewed,
the mind is filled with grace,
and a pledge of future glory to us is given.
Alleluia.
